Ever wonder what happens when a creative, people-first problem-solver lands in real estate? Hi, I'm...
What To Expect With Agent Matching
So happy to have you here!
Let’s be real - real estate can feel like a lot when you’re first getting started. Especially when it comes to finding an agent who genuinely has your back. There are a ton of agents out there, but are they all the same? Definitely not. Every agent brings something different to the table.
One of my goals is to help you feel confident in the agent you choose to work with - like you’ve got someone in your corner. A big part of my job is asking the right questions, interviewing professionals on your behalf, and making sure that the connection between you and the agent is one that feels right. Some of the best agent-client relationships are built with care and intention, and that’s what I’m all about.
Step-by-Step: How the Referral Process Works
You might be wondering, “Does having a referral agent make things more complicated?” Fair question - and the answer is no. If anything, I’m here as an extra support. I won’t get in the way of your relationship with your agent. Instead, I’m here if things ever feel off or you don’t know how to voice a concern with your agent. My role is to support you and make sure you feel heard, even if something doesn’t go as planned.
Let’s break it all down. 👇
Step 1: Starting the Conversation
To kick things off, there's a simple form on my website where you can share a little about yourself, what you're looking for in a home, what kind of support you want, and anything else that may be important for me to know. Don't love filling out online forms? Totally fine! We can go over everything together on a quick call or Zoom, just let me know you're interested and we'll that get that call set up.
If you've already filed the online form out - thank you so much! It means a lot that you'd trust me with this part of your journey, and it gives me a helpful starting point to find the right fit for you.
Step 2: We Talk It Through
After you’ve submitted the form, I’ll reach out to you to set up a time to chat. During that scheduled call or Zoom chat, I’ll confirm your info, ask anything else I need to know, and walk you through what to expect from the process. This is also a great time to ask me any questions you might have about my business or myself. Once we’re done with our conversation, I can get to work on the agent matching process!
Step 3: The Agent Matching Stage
On your form (or during our chat), you’ll tell me how involved you’d like to be in the agent-selection process. I offer three main options:
Option 1 : Just Match Me
Some clients want a hands-off experience - they trust me to pick the best agent based on their needs, and they don’t want to stress over the details. I’ll make the match and handle the rest! Even with a hands-off approach, I'll confirm the match with you before making any introductions. You always have the option to pass if it doesn't feel right!
Option 2 : Help Me Compare
This is a great option if you want to be more involved in the final decision but don’t have time for interviews (or maybe you simply don't want to do interviews yourself). I’ll interview potential agents and gather all the information. We’ll review the options together, and if nothing feels quite right, we’ll regroup and try again.
Option 3: I’d Like To Meet Them
This is a good option if you prefer to meet the agents yourself and be involved in the interview process. Together, we will go over the questions we’ll ask prior to setting up interviews and we’ll connect with the agents via a group Zoom, phone call, or in-person (if it’s possible and preferred). I’ll help guide the conversation, but of course, you’re encouraged to speak up and ask anything on your mind.
Step 4: Behind the Scenes - Agent Agreements
Once we’ve found your match (whether I chose or we chose together), I’ll let the agent know and I'll handle all the behind-the-scenes paperwork with them and our brokerages. This agreement makes sure I can be paid for the referral after your transaction closes. There is nothing you need to do for this step, but you might hear from me letting you know I'm waiting on signatures before making a formal introduction. I always want you to be informed about the process, and this part is just one of those important behind-the-scenes steps that helps ensure things are handled properly on my end as your referral agent.
Please note: This step doesn't replace your own agreement with the agent. You'll still need to sign a standard buyer or listing agreement directly with your agent as normal when the time comes.
Step 5: Making the Formal Introduction
After the agreements are signed, it’s time to meet your agent! My go-to method for introductions is a group text. It’s easy, efficient and helps keep everyone in the loop. But if you prefer a phone call, Zoom, or even an in-person meeting (when possible), we can absolutely do that too.
This is also when I remind both sides that I’m still here to support communication. I may not be your buyer or seller agent, but I’m still in your corner.
Step 6: Ongoing Support
Once you’re working with your new agent, I check in regularly (usually weekly or as needed) to see how things are going. If you’re all communicating via the group text, that makes it easier for me to stay up to date, but I’m also happy to check in separately as needed.
If for any reason you’re not happy with how things are going, please tell me. You won’t offend me. I do my best to choose agents who are professional and client-focused, but if things ever feel like they are misaligned or that there are communication issues along the way between you and the agent - I'm here to help. I'll step in, help clarify what's going on and work toward a professional solution that makes sense for both sides.
Important Reminders
- Even though I refer you to another agent, you’re still my client.
- I’m here for support before, during, and after the transaction.
- Clear communication (with me and your agent) is key.
- I’m a Referral Agent - which means I’m licensed but limited in certain real estate activities.
What This All Means For You
You're not just being matched with an agent - you're gaining someone in your corner from start to finish. I'm here to make the agent finding process smoother and more thoughtful, but I'm also here as an added layer of support, especially when communication gets tricky.
Whether you're unsure how to voice a concern, need help asking the right questions, or just want someone to talk it through with, I'm here to help you navigate those in-between moments. Real estate is personal and it should feel that way. Let's makes sure your experience feels aligned, supported, and intentional every step of the way.
Built With Intention
When I first got into real estate, I didn’t know exactly how I’d run my business, but I did know this: I wanted to help people in a way that felt meaningful. My business is still growing, but it’s being built with a lot of heart, intention and structure.
This isn’t about rushing or pushing anyone into a deal. It’s about making sure you feel supported by the right people during what can be a really exciting (but also overwhelming) time.
Thanks for reading! I hope you walk away with a little more clarity on how the referral process works and what to expect when you work with me to find yourself an agent. If it feels like the right time, you’ll find the link to start the agent search on my Services Page. I’m here if you need anything along the way.
